Bocote is a fine tropical hardwood, prized for its dramatic grain ranging from warm yellow to deep brown. Scaled down to desk size, this humidor brings the same material presence as its larger siblings to a smaller footprint — built for a desk, a shelf, or a favourite corner of the room.
A solid oak drawer, not a lid
The Diamond opens from the front on a drawer cut from solid oak, running on a Blumotion soft-close mechanism rather than lifting on a hinge. The choice has a practical consequence: the humid air inside is not dumped out every time you open it. A lid humidor loses most of its conditioned air in one movement; a drawer keeps the majority of it where it belongs, which means the interior recovers in minutes instead of hours. Solid timber rather than veneered panel also means the front will not lift or bubble over years of humid air on one side and dry room air on the other.
Fifty cigars, and what that means
The 50+ figure is measured on a standard Robusto. Churchills and larger ring gauges bring it down, slimmer vitolas bring it up. This is the size that suits someone who smokes regularly and keeps two or three boxes moving rather than a cellar of ageing stock — and it is also the size most people underestimate, then wish they had bought a year later.
The system inside
Humidification is by Boveda: a two-way system that releases moisture when the interior dries and reabsorbs it when the level climbs, so the humidity holds flat. No distilled water, no sponge to clean — the packs are swapped when they begin to stiffen, typically every two to four months. Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sun; above about 24 °C the eggs of the tobacco beetle can hatch inside a cigar. The wood needs nothing more than a dry cloth.
