Where raw elegance meets timeless design. This piece is left with a natural split face, the marble's raw, quarry-cut texture set directly against its polished bowl, so the contrast between untouched stone and finished craftsmanship is part of the design itself.

Nero Belgio is a rich black marble, celebrated since the seventeenth century for a depth of colour that furnished European palaces. Here it is worked into a substantial, sculptural ashtray built to anchor a room rather than simply furnish it.

Split by hand, finished by hand

This is the most hand-worked piece in the collection. The stone is split by hand, the way the old stonemasons worked, and every finishing pass is done entirely by hand, so the rugged split faces meet a smooth polished hollow with no two pieces ever alike. That contrast, raw against refined, is the whole character of the object.

Built for the cigar

The proportions are made for cigars rather than cigarettes: a deep bowl that takes a full ash column without it banking against the rim, and rests cut for a 50 to 54 ring gauge. Five kilos of Nero Belgio will not move when a lit cigar is set down, and the stone neither scorches nor holds odour between sessions.

Care

Clean the polished areas with a soft, barely damp cloth only: acidic and limescale products etch polished stone permanently. The split faces are meant to stay raw and need no treatment.

Part of the ritual

This piece belongs to our handmade marble ashtray collection, and sits naturally alongside a marble table lighter or one of our luxury humidors for a complete Italian cigar setting.

Frequently asked questions

Is this ashtray made for cigars or cigarettes?
For cigars. The bowl is deep enough to hold a full ash column and the rests are cut for a 50 to 54 ring gauge.

Why does each piece look different?
The face is split by hand and the marble is natural, so veining, texture and the line of the split vary on every piece. No two are alike.

Does the raw split face need sealing or treatment?
No. The split faces are meant to stay raw. Only the polished bowl needs the occasional gentle clean.

How do I clean it?
Wipe the polished areas with a soft, barely damp cloth. Avoid acidic or limescale products, which etch polished stone permanently.

Will it stay put with a cigar resting on it?
Yes. At five kilograms of solid Nero Belgio, it stays exactly where you place it.

How long does delivery take?
Each piece is handmade to order, so please allow roughly 2 to 4 weeks.
