White ebony is one of the rarer members of the ebony family. Where most ebony is prized for being nearly black, this variety is known for the opposite, a pale, cream-white body threaded with dark, contrasting streaks. This Large Diamond humidor puts that rare material on full display.

Seventy centimetres of a wood normally used in inches

White ebony is typically worked into small objects such as knife scales, inlay and instrument parts, because clean material in large, consistent panels is difficult to find. Covering a 70 cm humidor in it, with the streaking running coherently across the front, is a sourcing problem before it is a woodworking one. That is the real reason pieces like this are built in small batches.

The system inside

Boveda packs supply the humidity, working in both directions, releasing moisture when the interior dries and reabsorbing it when the level rises. A dynamic ventilation system circulates that air through the whole interior, so cigars at opposite ends of a 70 cm cabinet age at one rate instead of drifting apart. You never add water: the packs are replaced when they stiffen, typically every two to four months. Internal LED lighting lifts the pale streaking of the wood every time the drawer opens. The drawer front is cut from solid oak and runs on a Blumotion soft-close mechanism, so it keeps the conditioned air inside when you open it, unlike a lifted lid, and solid timber will not lift or bubble the way a veneered panel can with humid air on one side.

Capacity and care

The 120-cigar figure is measured on a standard Toro, around 135 Robusto, and moves with ring gauge. Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sunlight. Above about 24 °C the eggs of the tobacco beetle can hatch inside a cigar. A dry cloth is all the wood needs, with no polish and no solvents.

How many cigars does it hold?
It holds around 120 Toro cigars (roughly 135 Robusto), measured on a Toro and shifting with ring gauge. Slimmer vitolas raise the number; thick ring gauges lower it.

Do I need to add water?
No. Humidity is managed by two-way Boveda packs, so there is no reservoir to fill. You simply replace the packs when they stiffen, typically every two to four months.
