Nero Portoro: A Rare and Difficult Beauty

Nero Portoro is one of the rarest black marbles in the world, quarried at a single, limited site near Portovenere, on the Ligurian coast of Italy. Its deep black background, threaded with veins of gold and white, has made it one of the most coveted stones since Roman times — reserved, historically, for the most prestigious architecture and the finest craftsmanship.

That same veining, the very source of its beauty, is also what makes Nero Portoro notoriously difficult to work with. The marble tends to fracture precisely along its veins, turning every cut, polish, and finish into a delicate operation that leaves little room for error — and results in a very low yield from each block extracted.

For this reason, every surface of this humidor is polished entirely by hand, and every component is hand-assembled, piece by piece, inside our own Italian laboratories — nothing is outsourced. The result is a genuinely one-of-a-kind object: rare, delicate, and refined in a way that only a fully handmade process can achieve.

The Technology

Silence, by Design: Our Patented Humidification System

Preserving a fine cigar collection has always meant vigilance: checking humidity levels, refilling water, guessing when to intervene. We engineered a system that removes all of it. Our patented humidification technology works in near-total silence, quietly circulating air through the humidor without ever asking for your attention.

At its core is a set of silent fans that activate automatically, drawing on the Boveda system to distribute humidity evenly across every corner of the interior — no dry pockets, no manual adjustment, no guesswork. Everything happens on its own, exactly when it's needed.

No batteries to replace. No distilled water to pour. No maintenance routine to remember. It is, quite simply, a climate system that disappears into the background — so the only thing you ever have to think about is your cigars.

  • Fully automatic activation — no switches, no timers to set
  • Boveda-powered, for consistent, even humidity throughout
  • No batteries required
  • No distilled water refills — zero maintenance
  • Engineered and patented exclusively for the Diamond Collection

Why Collectors Choose the Humidor Diamond Large - Nero Portoro Marble

Every Litolite humidor is designed for cigar lovers who see their collection as more than a hobby. Carved from solid Nero Portoro marble — one of Italy's rarest black stones — and finished with a precision climate system, this piece brings museum-level craftsmanship to a functional, everyday object. Unlike mass-produced humidors, no two Nero Portoro slabs share the same veining, so each unit is genuinely one of a kind.
