Ashtray Nero Marquina
Nero Marquina is a deep black marble quarried in northern Spain, prized since the early 20th century for the fine white veining that runs through its dark body — a favourite of Art Deco designers and still a benchmark material for bold, contemporary interiors today.
The bowl is cut deep, so a cigar's ash column falls rather than banking against the rim, and the rest holds a 50-ring-gauge cigar without it rolling free. Marble is the right material for the job for reasons beyond looks: it takes a lit cigar set down mid-smoke without scorching, and it does not hold odour between sessions the way ceramic and wood do.
