Diamond Humidor Small Nero Marquina
Nero Marquina is a deep black marble quarried in northern Spain, prized since the early 20th century for the fine white veining running through its dark body. It was a favourite of Art Deco designers and remains a benchmark for bold interiors today. This desk-sized humidor brings that same material presence to a smaller footprint.
Twenty kilos on a desk
It weighs a third more than the wooden Diamonds, and the difference is working mass. Stone changes temperature slowly, so the interior of a marble humidor rides out the daily swing of a heated room far better than a thin-walled box can. On a desk it also simply does not move: you open the drawer with one hand rather than holding the humidor down with the other.
The system inside
Boveda packs handle the humidity in both directions, releasing moisture when the interior dries and reabsorbing it when the level rises, so it stays flat rather than cycling. There is no water and no calibration: the packs are replaced when they stiffen, typically every two to four months. The drawer format matters more than it looks. A lifted lid releases most of the conditioned air in one go, while a drawer keeps the bulk of it inside and the humidity recovers in minutes. The front is cut from solid oak rather than veneered, and the Blumotion mechanism closes it slowly and silently, which on a twenty-kilo marble object is the difference between a pleasure and a hazard.
Capacity and care
The 50+ figure is measured on a standard Robusto and shifts with ring gauge. Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sun. Above about 24 °C tobacco beetle eggs can hatch inside a cigar. Clean the marble with a soft, barely damp cloth only: acidic and limescale products etch polished stone permanently, and the damage cannot be undone.
