Humidor Nero Marquinia for Lacquered Bar Cabinet

Nero Marquina is a deep black marble quarried in the Basque Country of northern Spain, its intense black body sprinkled with white and grey veins — a material long prized in architecture and interior design. Here it forms the humidor insert designed to pair with the Litolite Lacquered Bar Cabinet, with drawer fronts in solid black oak, though it stands beautifully on its own too.

Black stone, black oak

The pairing is deliberate. Nero Marquina is among the most graphic stones we work with — white veins running like lightning across a black field — and setting it against black-lacquered solid oak keeps the eye on the marble rather than on the joinery. Solid timber rather than veneer also matters functionally: the fronts hold their shape against years of humid air on one face and dry room air on the other. Because the veining is natural, the piece you receive will not match the photograph exactly, and that is the point.

Humidity that holds

Boveda packs do the humidification, releasing moisture when the interior dries and absorbing it when the level rises, so the humidor sits at a steady figure rather than cycling between extremes. There is no water to add and nothing to calibrate; the packs are replaced when they stiffen, usually every two to four months. An automatic ventilation system distributes that humidity evenly through the interior, and internal LED lighting lights the stone from within whenever the humidor is open.

Capacity, placement, care

The 150+ figure is measured on a standard Robusto and moves with ring gauge. Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sunlight — above about 24 °C the eggs of the tobacco beetle can hatch inside a cigar. Clean the marble with a soft, barely damp cloth only: acidic or limescale products will etch a polished surface permanently, and the damage cannot be undone.
