Nero Portoro Oro is a rare black marble threaded with striking gold veins, adding a note of warmth to an otherwise dark, dramatic material. Here it forms the humidor insert designed to pair with the Litolite Lacquered Bar Cabinet, though it stands beautifully on its own too.

The most demanding stone we cut

Portoro has been quarried in Liguria since Roman times and has always been treated as a precious material rather than a building one. Its gold veining runs in defined bands, which means a block has to be read and cut along the grain of the veins rather than simply sliced. Get it wrong and the pattern breaks across a face. It is the slowest marble in the collection to work and the least forgiving.

The system inside

Humidity is managed by Boveda packs, a two-way system that releases moisture as the interior dries and reabsorbs it when the level climbs, holding a steady figure rather than swinging. There is no distilled water and no sponge to maintain: replace the packs when they begin to stiffen, typically every two to four months. An automatic ventilation system keeps the humidity uniform through the whole interior, and internal LED lighting makes the gold veining read properly, which in a dark stone it otherwise would not do.

Capacity and care

The 150+ capacity is measured on a standard Robusto and varies with ring gauge. The drawer fronts are solid oak rather than veneered panel, so they stay flat against the humidity differential across the face. Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and away from direct sun and radiators. Above about 24 °C tobacco beetle eggs can hatch inside a cigar. Clean with a soft, barely damp cloth: never use acidic or limescale products on polished marble, which they etch permanently.

Designed to sit on the Litolite Bar Cabinet

This humidor is conceived as the top element of a complete bar system. The Lacquered Bar Cabinet below holds your bottles, glassware and accessories, while the humidor rests on top, uniting cigars and spirits in a single piece of furniture. Together they turn a corner of a room into a dedicated space for the ritual.

Made in Italy, in our own workshop

Every Litolite piece is designed and manufactured in Italy under one roof. This humidor draws on the same workshop that produces our bespoke and contract work: custom furniture made to measure, high-precision CNC machining of wood, marble and metal, and luxury lacquering in gloss, matte and metallic finishes. We work with interior designers, architects and contract clients on furniture and fit-outs for private residences, hotels, cigar lounges and retail spaces, and we can match materials, dimensions and special finishes to a specific brief.

Frequently asked questions

How many cigars does it hold?
Around 150+ cigars, measured on a standard Robusto. Larger ring gauges bring the count down, while slimmer vitolas bring it up.

Is it made to order?
Yes. Each insert is made to commission and configured with you before production, and ships in about 6 to 8 weeks. To reserve or configure yours, write to info@litolite.com.

Does it have to sit on the Bar Cabinet?
It is designed to pair with the Litolite Lacquered Bar Cabinet, but it stands beautifully on its own too.

Do I need to add water?
No. Humidity is handled by two-way Boveda packs, so there is no water to fill. You replace the packs when they stiffen, typically every two to four months.

Will it look exactly like the photos?
No. Natural marble varies from piece to piece, so your humidor will differ from the images and from every other one we make.

Artisan Craftsmanship

Each humidor is handcrafted in Italy using traditional joinery, marble sculpting, and wood finishing techniques. No two pieces are exactly alike.
