Padouk Wood
Padouk is distinguished into two main varieties based on its area of origin: African Padouk and Asian Padouk. This species belongs to the Leguminosae family and primarily grows in the forests of equatorial regions.
These trees can reach heights of 24-37 meters and a diameter of 0.8-1 meter. They are classified as durable wood. The sapwood exhibits a thin gray-brown coloration, while the heartwood can range from a yellowish-pink with red lines to a deep crimson, almost blood-red. In some variants, the heartwood may appear purplish-red, sometimes with red or black streaks; in both cases, the color tends to transform into a reddish-brown over time.
The grain of the wood is generally straight but can also feature an interlocked arrangement. Additionally, Padouk is characterized by its coarse and open texture, which gives the wood a good natural luster.
