A luxury humidor typically costs from about $1,500 to $5,000 for a handcrafted desktop model, and from $5,000 to over $10,000 for large cabinets and heritage names. Below $300 you are buying a storage box, not a luxury object. This guide explains what each price band gets you, what drives the cost, and how to choose without overspending.

What are you actually paying for?
- Materials. Solid marble, or rare woods such as Ziricote, White Ebony and Bocote, cost far more than veneered board or cedar-lined boxes. Our guide to the finest materials goes through them. The Snake humidor in the photo combines a Ziricote body with a marble lid carved with a snake relief.
- Construction. Solid-wood elements, precise joinery and a seal that closes airtight take time to make. A drawer humidor also holds humidity better than a lift-up lid.
- The humidity system. Two-way Boveda packs need no water. Larger cabinets add dynamic air circulation to prevent dry spots.
- Capacity. Capacity figures are not always comparable between brands. See how many cigars a humidor really holds.
- Craftsmanship and finish. Hand-polished stone, hand-painted reliefs and hand-finished wood add days of work to each piece. Read how a luxury humidor is made in Italy and our guide to hand-painted marble accessories. Our latest collection, La Casona, is carved in Calacatta Oro marble and painted by hand.
- Design and edition size. A numbered limited edition or a recognised design carries a premium of its own.
Prices by type
- Desktop humidors hold from a few dozen to about 120 cigars and cover most of the price range above.
- Cabinets for 150 cigars and more start around $1,200 for plain models and run past $11,000 for fine ones.
- Walk-in rooms and bespoke cabinets are designed around your space, so they are priced on request. See how to plan a walk-in humidor room and our bespoke cabinets.
Is a luxury humidor worth it?
It is worth it if you want an object you will keep and display for decades, and if you value materials, craft and design as well as function. It is not the only way to keep cigars well: a well-sealed, modestly priced humidor with two-way humidity packs can preserve them very capably. A luxury humidor adds beauty, durability and the pleasure of owning something made with care.
The costs people forget
- Humidity packs: Boveda packs are replaced roughly every two to four months.
- Shipping, duties and VAT: these can add a lot when buying from abroad. Our prices include duties and taxes, and shipping is free on orders over 1,000 euro.
- Lead time: handmade pieces are made to order. Ours take about four to six weeks.
How to choose without overpaying
- Decide how many cigars you really keep, then choose a size one step above.
- Ask how the capacity was measured.
- Check the seal and the humidity system before the finish.
- Choose the material you will enjoy looking at every day.
- Ask what is included: duties, shipping, packs and warranty.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a luxury humidor cost?
Typically from about $1,500 to $5,000 for a handcrafted desktop model, and over $5,000 for collector pieces and large cabinets.
Is a $500 humidor good enough?
Yes, if it seals well and uses a reliable humidity system. It will not offer the materials, craftsmanship or longevity of a luxury piece.
Why are luxury humidors so expensive?
Materials such as marble and rare wood, careful joinery, hand finishing and small production runs.
Do expensive humidors keep cigars better?
Not automatically. A good seal and stable humidity matter most. Larger, well-built cabinets add circulation and stability.
How much should I spend on a first humidor?
Choose a size for the cigars you really keep, and spend on seal and humidity control before decoration.
How much does a walk-in humidor room cost?
It depends on size, climate control and finishes, so it is quoted on request.
Are duties included in your prices?
Yes, duties and taxes are included.
